Class Descriptions

Yoga Classes are 75 - 90 minutes long.

We encourage all students to work within their own limitations - being mindful is the beginning of learning yoga and pilates.

Beginner Hatha Yoga - Traditional style hatha yoga.  Postures, breath work and relaxation are all part of the class.  Instruction level is fairly detailed and yoga props are used to help aid the student in finding proper alignment.   This class is appropriate for new students and those recovering from an injury or very stiff.  The last week of the month this class will offer basic instruction of flow or vinyasa style yoga.

Level 2 Hatha Flow Yoga:  This class will begin with flow yoga or vinyasa (to systematically place-breath with movement.)  The second part of class slows down with more detailed instruction in adv. beginner and intermediate postures.  Props are sometimes used.  Anyone with prior yoga experience is welcome.  This class is not appropriate for those who have serious health problems/painful injuries or for those who are very stiff.

All Level Vinyasa Flow - Class is taught in the vinyasa style - where the poses flow from one to the other.  Breath synchronizes with the movment and creates alot of internal heat.  Poses range from beginner to adv. beginner.  Modifications are offered.  An all level class is open to beginners as well as experienced practitioners - however you should not attend if you are recovering from a serious injury or ill.

Private/Partner Yoga lessons: private yoga lessons are designed specifically for your body.  Sessions run 60-75 minutes in length.  Whether you are recovering from an injury or illness, feel shy about attending a group class or would like to develop a home practice - private/partner sessions will challenge and encourage you.  A wide range of options are offered at these sessions - alignment of the poses, restorative poses for healing, meditation, visualization or vigorous flow sequences.  Should you be interested in using weights, exercise balls, trampoline, etc - cross training can be part of your yoga session.  Private or partner yoga lessons are $50.00 per session or $225.00 for 5 sessions.

Pilates Mat classes: are 60 minutes in length. These classes are designed to introduce students to basic fundamentals: breathing, posture and body alignment and core strengthening.  All students soon progress through 22 beginner exercises emphasizing form, control, relaxation and stamina. Participants continue to develop all 33 mat exercises according to their own level of competency. Exercises are modified when necessary. Props such as the Magic Circle, foam roller, mini balls, physioballs, toning balls and stretch tubes add challenge to the mat exercises.  Enjoy a major lifestyle renovation by training within the Pilates Method.

Private Pilates Session: one-on-one training on specialized Pilates equipment. Whether you are recovering from an injury or an athlete wanting to further your training or a post partum mother - Pilates is an opportunity to develop a strong core which translates to a stronger, healthier body. Laughing Bodies offers the only place in Crossville with this top of the line equipment. You can feel and see a difference in just 10 sessions!

Duet Pilates sessions: Duets offer the same individualized training as a private session, but you have the opportunity to work with a partner. If you are brand new to Pilates, consider taking private sessions first so that you can learn the fundamentals. Our instructor can then pair you up with someone that is appropriate for you fitness level.

  • Class Card System : How it works
Laughing Bodies has a class card system which is modeled after most yoga & pilates studios around the country.
Purchasing a class card has two purposes - it helps to keep you committed to attending the studio and it enables us to run our studio!!
A class at the studio is valued at $12.00. When you purchase a class card a savings is automatically built into the price. We give a discount to the class cost for those who agree to a certain number of classes in a specific time frame. We offer a 6 class card, 12 class or 24 class as well as 1 month unlimited and 3 month unlimited. The more classes you purchase, the greater the savings.
It is important to remember that your card is for all the ongoing classes at Laughing Bodies. We offer 9 evening classes from Monday - Friday and 6 morning classes Monday - Saturday.
It is a fantastic discipline to commit to a particular class each week however if you miss your "regular" class please plan to attend another class that week to make it up. Mix it up a bit - hit a pilates class if you are a regular yoga student or come to a different level yoga class.
  • If you become injured or are ill for more than a week, or if you travel out of the area for more than a week then let us know.  We can extend the card for these reasons only.  Please request extensions before your card expires.
  • Everyone is busy and pressed for time and we know it can sometimes be difficult to get to the studio. However in order for the class card system to work we have to honor the expiration date.

  • If you feel you can not commit to a set amount of classes in a specific time frame then you are welcome to pay the walk - in rate of $12.00.
We value your business and support your commitment to yourself and your practice.

FAQ

Do I have to be in shape to take Pilates or Yoga? You do not have to be flexible, thin, or fit to start yoga or pilates. No one is too stressed out or too tight to benefit from these systems. Both are low impact and designed to help anyone return to the health they enjoyed in their youth. All that is required is your willingness to find out what these techniques have to offer!

How long are the classes? Yoga classes are 75-90 minutes in length and Pilates mat as well as private sessions are 60 minutes.

What do I wear? Comfortable stretchy clothing. Pants should have an elastic waist band. Shoes and socks are not worn in either class.

Do I need to bring anything? Our studio provides all equipment for both classes. If you would like your own mat or any other pilates or yoga equipment it is available for purchase at our store.

Can I just drop in on a class? Drop-in students are welcome. This gives one a chance to try out the sytems before committing to a full series. Please be sure to check the dates as the studio is often closed for short breaks between sessions as well as holidays.
